Those that know me know I am an agnostic. My wife is a believer. Her beliefs are based on, what I consider, a valid reason...personal revelation.
Unlike a lot of atheists and non-believers, I see a valid reason for beliefs. I tend to agree with one of the great early Americans, Thomas Paine. Contrary to popular belief, he was not an atheist, rather a deist. His stance on religious belief is the same stance I hold...
Thomas Paine believes that personal revelation is a valid reason for PERSONAL religious belief, but that personal religious belief is not a valid reason for others to believe.
What he is saying is that if you experienced the resurrection of Jesus, that is a valid reason for one to believe in him, however that does not mean those that did not experience it should believe. One can choose to believe but one should not feel forced to believe based on the personal revelation of others.
My wife has had personal experiences, I have not. She believes, I respect that. I have not...
